Swatch: China Glaze Flying Dragon (Neon) with Sally Hansen Twinkle Twinkle

Hello all!

Hope everyone's having a great week so far. I've finally made a dent in the packing for uni! Miracles do happen!

Anyway, today I'd like to show you a polish from China Glaze's Ink Collection. This once is called Flying Dragon and is labeled a neon on the bottle. It is a very pretty purple with, it seems to me, a red undertone. The polish also has red and blue glitter, which I fear the pictures did not do a good job of capturing. (Cloudy today in my part of the world, so I wasn't able to try pictures outside.)

Like most people, I am a big fan of CG, and this one had been lying in my untried box for a while now. I'd tried its sister, Rose Among Thorns, a neon pink earlier in the summer and loved it, so I decided that it was Flying Dragon's day!

Application went well. I used two coats for this mani. I couldn't remember if Rose Among Thorns had the same finish, but it must have. The polish had a quasi-matte finish, which I really liked. By the time I'd finished one hand to move on to the other, the polish was soft-touch dry and already looked matte.

I wish I'd thought to take pictures of the polish as it was, but I didn't think I'd blog about it. I liked it a lot, but I decided to spice up the mani with a coat of Sally Hansen Twinkle, Twinkle (click for larger):

Twinkle, Twinkle is a great glitter from Xtreme Wear. It was a bit of a hassle to get the different glitters onto the brush, but the effect was worth it, I think. (Apologies for the practically non-existent cleanup.)

And a bit blurrier to show the glitter off (again click for larger!):

I was a tad unsure about the mani, but my boyfriend said it was one of his favourites from me in a while and the bank teller when I was making a deposit said she loved it! So I think this is pretty good.

Thoughts? Do you own Flying Dragon and/or Twinkle Twinkle? :)

Models Own Personal Stash

Hey everyone! :)

Hope you're all doing well today! I'm doing all right myself, packing and getting ready to go back to uni. Last year of undergrad, so I'm pretty excited for that.

Due to the Models Own 50% sale happening this week (kick-starting as soon as the discount code is finally posted!), I started looking at the colours on the website and then rehashing the personal little Models Own collection I have.

I spent the last six months abroad in England studying, but alas, the troubling life of a uni student, I needed to watch my funds. I've got six Models Own polishes at the moment, hardly a large collection (click for larger):

From left to right: Nude Beige, Blooboo, Pink Blush, Red Alert, Jade Stone and Smash Up Purple.

Smash Up Purple looks almost black in these photos...the light in my room is really poor. -.- The pastels also look a bit darker than they are in person.

I've tried them on once each, but I remember absolutely loving all of them - with Red Alert and Jade Stone probably being my favourites!

I've got a whole batch ready in my account for the sale! :)

Good night dears!

Lucy xx

Friday Poll!

Doing the Friday poll again! Thanks to Dori!

1. How has your week been so far? Hmm, on the whole it's been a pretty good week. Missing my boyfriend, but uni starts soon and I finally got my GRE over with today. Haven't been shopping in a while though, so that's automatically a strike against the week!a
2. What’s on yo nails? They were chipped with leftover Nicole by OPI The New CEO, but I gave myself a new mani this evening. Now I'm wearing a China Glaze Ravishing, Dahling! with a coat of Seche Vite on top. My Seche Vite has gotten to the ugly phase though, I'll need to pick up a new bottle soon.

3. What was your worst nail polish related accident (ie: spills, bottle breaks)? WWWell, I guess I spilled some China Glaze Four Leaf Clover on my white sheets once. Left a great big stain, but what can you do? I've never had a bottle break on me before though. *knocks on wood*

4. Out of all the products you use in the summertime, which ones do you love the scent of the most?  I guess it'd be Bath and Body Works Twilight. They're so lovely.

5. If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you move to?  I'm torn these days between London and Dublin. I really want to live in Europe right now, but I'd like to settle in the US on a long-term basis, I think. :)

6. What is your favorite part of painting your nails?  My favorite part? I love the process...it's such a guilty pleasure and it's so addicting. But I think my favorite part would have to be when I finally study the end product for the first time. Shiny, pretty nails = love.

7. What is your least favorite part of painting your nails? I think it'd have to be staining. I hate that!

8. What type of mp3 player do you have? I have an iPod Touch. Lovely little thing. I carry it along everywhere. I had a very old iPod Nano, but who knows where that went....

9. How often do you paint your toe nails? Usually a few times a month. It depends. In the winter months they usually go a lot longer without being painted even when they've started to chip.
10. What was your first job? My first job would have to be a a Resident Assistant as my uni. The first year I did it was good, but the second year was dreadful.

The TraceFace Philes - Essence Giveaway!

Hey everyone,

Great giveaway by The TraceFace Philes this way!

Essence Nail Art Twins Bella and Edward are up for grabs. :)

Giveaway closes September 2nd!

Friday Poll!

Hey everyone! Doing the third Friday poll made by Doris over at Kiss My Acetone!

1. How has your week been so far? It’s been a fairly nice week, all in all. Hung out with friends, did a fair bit of shopping and ended it with watching a film at the cinema with my mum and sister.

2. Whatcha wearin on the nails? At the moment I'm wearing Essie's Aruba Blue with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Twinkle Twinkle. And of course, a top coat of Seche Vite.

3. What is your favorite store to shop for makeup at? Oh God, can't choose just one! I really like Beauty Plus Salon at my local mall, Sephora in a mall about a half hour away (they sell Illamasqua polishes there and not in my local one) and Sally's of course. Plus Boots when I'm in the UK.

4. What’s your favorite store or drugstore to shop for other non-makeup supplies at? I think it would be Walgreens or CVS! I like Rite Aid too.

5. How has the weather been in your neck of the woods this week? I think the weather's been nice - warm and sunny, but not humid, so I don't get all gross and sweaty and feel like I want to take five showers a day.

6. Have you had the chance to enjoy the pool/beach/river/lake yet this summer? Yes, I went to the beach with my best friend a few weeks ago, which was very nice.

7. What are some of your favorite products to use in the summer time? Hmm, I like to use French jasmine from Fragonard, various citrus shower gels from Bath and Body works, and some Lancome.

8. When do you usually transition from using summer products to fall products? Hmm, I guess it'd be around late September.

9. What is your favorite color to wear on your nails in the summer? I like really bright colours - lime, turquoise, but especially coral. Glitter too!

10. What is your favorite color to wear on your toes in the summer? I think it'd be coral as well, or red.
